Church Accounting Software Update

Filed Under ( Uncategorized ) by admin

I thought I would write a post for those of you who come back to my site and check on updates on Church Accounting Software.

I apologize to those of you that were expecting a lot more links to software than I have.  I had every intention of having an extensive list of Church Software for you to look at.  The problem is I have not had the time I wish I did.   You see, my wife is battling cancer and this has taken so much of my time away from my websites.  We have settled down again and I do anticapate some major work on this site in the next 2-3 month period.

Please check back and thanks for stopping by.

BloggerUnleashed

Filed Under ( Uncategorized ) by admin

I am going to share with you something that has nothing to do with software.  About four months ago I came upon a website called Blogger Unleashed written by Vic.  He is a bit unorthodox,  but he is also  completely honest and forthcoming.

Vic shares the methods that he has used to make a living on the internet and shares it with no compensation for himself.  With his video Vlogs he gives us plenty of information  in a short period of time.

Vic has made a difference in my life and he could in yours, so take a look at his site and see for yourself.

Here is a link to a friend of mine’s hotel south of Lincoln City Oregon and north of Newport Oregon in Deopoe Bay Oregon :  Oregon Coast Lodging

Why The Debate On Tithing?

Filed Under ( Tithing Debate ) by admin

When you do a search on Google or any other search engine on Tithing you might have noticed something. Many of the websites are debating the idea that in these modern times and according to the lack of scripture in the New Testament that we are not required to tithe 10%. They take New Testament scripture or the lack of it spelling it out to make their defense of why not to give their tithe. Therefore Jesus is telling us in this scripture that we are to go by the Old Testament laws.

But Tithing does not have to be debated because it all comes down to this. Tithing is praising God. Tithing is not a tax but a way to praise God who everything belongs to. We are just stewards of everything we have. Any Christian who loves God with all his heart should desire to give everything he can and rejoice in doing so. This is the gateway for the believer into the covenant of blessings.

God promises that he will bless those who give with generosity, so those who complain about having to give the least required Tithe to he who owns it in the first place are not putting God and their worship first, and yes I know this has nothing to do with Church Accounting Software.

Contributions, by ACS Technologies, is a stand-alone Church Accounting Software for tracking all giving, donations, pledges, and offering.  This comprehensive program looks like it will do it all.  Secure access protects the information collected.  Easily create reports and search for the exact information needed quickly.  IRS compliancy is built-in.  Contributions makes it easy to separate one payment into many different accounts.  Year-end reporting is no longer an drawn out project.

What impresses me about this product and company is the ability of this tithing module to fit into the other products that ACS has in their library.  The Church Software that ACS has to offer works like an a-la-cart menu.  Pick and choose the modules that you need!  Their menu is comprehensive. Available modules can keep track of your membership, manage your finances, administer your Sunday school, run your website and much more.  Each module seems to fit into the overall puzzle and share information across the board.  Pick and choose just what you need and have the ability to add to your software at any time.  They even have a shop for forms and supplies like tithing envelopes and mailing labels.   What we didn’t find on the website is the price for each module.  There is however a toll free number for ordering.

Here is an alternative to the traditional Church Accounting Software . . .

More and more people make their everyday household bill payments online. Why send the electric company that cute check with the kitty-cats on it when you can make your payment with a couple of clicks at their website? Raise your hand if you have made a payment online in the past 30 days. (My hand is up over here. . .) Many churches are turning to this new way of taking care of business and offering their congregation an online electronic way to make tithes, offering, and donations.

Programs for accepting tithes and offerings online range from a full-service financial accounting “we only take payments online” set-up to a voluntary option for each member to decide. If you have a website, a simple click-here button can direct your members to a secure page where they can type in their information to make their tithe. Or another option allows your members to setup automatic donations that will come out of their account and into yours on a regular schedule. Even when they wake up late and don’t make it to church. Even when they go on vacation for a month or go south for the winter. See the advantage? There is even a company that will put an ATM-like Kiosk in the lobby of your church so that your members can make their offering with their debit card. Some churches just use PayPal! The cost of Online Electronic Tithing Collections is relative to the amount of financial accounting the company you choose does for you.

There are drawbacks to consider. I would imagine this would work better with a younger congregation. I can’t see my elderly parents tithing online . . . I hate the idea that someone would tithe on credit . . . Somehow that just doesn’t seem to be following God’s plan … Many churches agree and do not accept credit cards for tithes. Good for them. Having an ATM machine in your vestibule may put off some- visitors and old members alike. And Change is Hard! Some of your congregation just won’t like it.

The advantages are pretty obvious. Someone else is taking care of your church’s tithing and offering accounting. You can redirect the efforts of those who’s job it was to open envelopes and enter donations in the computer. And according to people who know, you can pick up 10-30% more tithes with automatic scheduled offering collections.

Please do your own homework on this one. Below we have links to some companies we found that offer online electronic tithing and giving accounting. We are not recommending any of them —-just listing them here in one place for you.

If you have any experience with any of these companies, know of any additional companies not listed, or have any opinions on this method of tithing collection, please post a comment below. We would love to hear what you think!
